Buenos Dias,
We left Nick and Karen on Monday the 13th for our border crossing. Stopped in Chula Vista for a few last minute items. While stopped at a light a police car pulled up with 2 officers. Of course the windows are down cuz it's HOT. They said "will you please adopt us you look like you will be having more fun than us" we told them of course if they they can find a place in the back they could come with us!
The Border crossing was up eventful. There were maybe 5 other cars and of course we got the red light, pulled over, the peeked in the back and said adios. Highway 1 was a good road and when we detoured north of Ensenada because of the slide the old highway has been recently repaved and was better than the hwy 1.
Stopped in LaBufadora Monday and Tuesday. Great spot the only one there and a great view of the ocean. Woke up in the morning and watched 100's of whales pass by. We were the only ones there. Tents $10.00 and RVs $15.00 per night. The only problem was the wind at night and nylon tents make a lot of noise. Walked up to town about 3 blocks and to our surprise were met with "señor what can I sell you that you do not need". There was a cruise ship in Ensenada and they bused the passengers in to see the blow hole, all the vendors were out. The Depoe Bay spout is much better. Only bought a piña colada with tequila in a pineapple to share with Mr Monkey.
Wednesday to Ensenada for fishing license and tourist visa. The tourist info center and immigration were both wonderful. Only took about 15 minutes and they said welcome to our country and enjoy.
Then off to Telcell to buy a phone . Only $40.00 that includes a prepaid card . If you want to call us our # is 646-148-8896 you will need to put in the country code. You be be charged but I don't know how much.
Finally off to SanQuintin (San KEEN-TEEN) road was great saw a lot of vineyards and cactus farms. Camped at Los Olivos a beautiful spot with playgrounds for the kids, bike track and swimming pool.
No wind, grass and woke up to crowing roosters.
Met Stewart and Sallyanne Calver from Eagle Bay BC. What a small world they had their boat
Jckamanzi  (dragonfly in Australian) in Matzalan and new a lot of our TBYC members that were there 1996-2002.
The four of us went to the beach, drove miles on the sand . Stopped at a little bay and Jon and Stewart went fishing in the kayaks. Jon got to check off a bucket list. While kayaking a whale came up 100 ft from him. Awesome!! I even got a picture of it. Back to camp at sunset.
Today going to a different beach and tomorrow points south.
I am not sure how you can comment on the blog so please email us with your comments and let us know what you are doing. jcbake@gmail.com. We would love to hear from you.
Adios
Jon
