Hola,
We spent Saturday and Sunday night in Mulege'. Cute spot American houses on the river. It  reminds us a lot of Hat Island a small community. Everyone is very friendly . We were only going to spend 1 night  but they were having a pig roast on Sunday so we decided to stay another day. We would like to come back here next year and rent a house for a month or 2. Anyone want to join us for a week or so?
Today we are off to ???? It rained last night and may do the same today so might not be camping tonight.
Chuck and Debbie are at their place so we will try and meet up with them on Thursday. Will keep you posted of the adventures.

Driving from San Ignacio to Santa Rosalia

Those Sierras are really really big

First sighting of the Sea of Cortez

Long winding road down hill

It looked a little lumpy out there

San Ignacio
Mission Nuestra Señor San Ignacio Kadakaaman
The walls are more than a meter thick and made of local volcanic stone, beams of lumber from the high Sierra and six-meter high carved doors from mainland Mexico.  Decorative stonework frames the windows and doors.  The church was restored in 1976 and the community holds worship services inside.

Cute right!!! Walking on the beach collecting shells. The beach is on the other side of our campsite.

White pelicans in the lagoon. The lagoon reminded us of Sturgeon Lake with all the birds, pelicans, ducks, heron, sand pipers, gulls and more. Went kayaking with the dolphins. The dolphins would swim by us in the afternoon and put on a little show.

Buenas noches,
GO SEAHAWKS !!!!!
Happy Birthday Nick. Hugs
Saturday we drove from SanQuintin to Catavina (Cat-ah-VEE-nya). The desert country around Catavina is known as the Sonora Desert Vegetation Region. The desert is filled with granite boulders and in between them grow a variety of cacti; the cirio or boojam tree they look like upside down big green carrots, huge cardons, barrel cactus, chollas and agaves .
We stayed in a room at Rancho Santa Ines. Matilda makes a great taco and breakfast. Met Gary from Bozeman Mt riding his motorcycle and out for a few weeks.
Sunday morning after breakfast went for a hike thru the boulders and cacti. It was incredible!!! The boulders are huge. Then off to Guerrero Negro (Gerr-RER-row NEH-row). The 28th   is the dividing line between the state of Baja and Baja South.  Guerrero Negro is one of the newest towns on the Baja and is a company town. Founded on 1955 the town owes its existence to the  Exportadora Salt. Large flats near the town are flooded with seawater which quickly evaporates leaving salt.  This is gathered up using heavy equipment and shipped on barges to Isla Cedros offshore where there is enough water to allow cargo ships to dock. More recently the town has gained fame for the gray whales going into the bay.
Tomorrow off to spend a few days beach camping, whale watching, kayaking  and enjoying .
Hugs to all
Adios.... Until the next time
